The European Union actively supports the agri-food sector through the AGRIP programme (under EU Regulation 1144/2014), offering significant co-financing opportunities for information provision and promotion actions concerning agricultural products.
The programme's objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of European agricultural products, increase their consumption and promote European quality schemes (PDO, PGI, TSG, Organic) both within the EU internal market and in dynamic third-country markets.
What types of programmes are funded?
Promotion programmes fall into two main categories:
- Simple Programmes: Submitted by one or more organisations established in the same Member State (e.g. exclusively by Greek bodies).
- Multi Programmes: Submitted by at least two organisations from at least two different Member States, or by European-level organisations.
Who can participate?
The programme is open to legal entities (public or private bodies), specifically Producer Organisations or Associations of Producer Organisations and Agricultural Cooperatives, professional or inter-professional organisations, and agri-food sector bodies with a public service mission. A key requirement is that the applicant body must be representative of the sector or product it promotes (as a rule, representing at least 50% of producers or production volume/value).
Eligible Actions & Co-financing Rates
Eligible actions include, among others, public relations campaigns, information campaigns, website creation, as well as participation in events, trade fairs and exhibitions of national, European or international significance.

What about 2027?
Based on available sources, no call has yet been published for 2027. However, the AGRIP process is cyclical. Under the legal framework (Regulation 1144/2014), the European Commission adopts implementing acts defining the annual work programme each year.
Based on the established cycle, the 2027 work programme is expected to be adopted in late 2026, with the official call for proposals expected to open in early 2027 (typically January). For proposals submitted in spring 2027 that are approved, contract signing would take place in winter 2027. The implementation start date is the first day of the month following signature (essentially January 2028), with the option to defer the start by up to 6 months due to product seasonality.
